Our Purpose

Made in Perdido is dedicated to supporting our local economy by promoting products that are created, grown, or significantly enhanced within the greater Perdido, Florida area. Our brand, logo, and directories make it easier for shoppers and merchants to identify genuine local products — helping keep more dollars in our community.

Producer Membership

Producers are makers, artisans, growers, and creators who:

  1. Reside in the Perdido area for at least 6 months of the year.

  2. Create, grow, or significantly enhance a product in the Perdido area.

  3. Ensure that at least 50% of the product’s value (materials, labor, design, or transformation) occurs locally.

  4. Are legally able to sell their product (complying with applicable health, safety, and business regulations).

  5. Offer goods that meet one or more of these criteria:

    • Handmade or hand-finished locally

    • Artisanal or small-batch

    • Locally sourced materials or ingredients

    • Designed locally, even if certain components are manufactured elsewhere, with final assembly or finishing in Perdido

  6. Agree to use the “Made in Perdido” logo only on qualifying products.

  7. Understand that membership does not guarantee that a Merchant will carry your products — placement in retail environments depends on product fit for that store.

Merchant Membership

Merchants are retail stores, galleries, studios, or specialty shops that:

  1. Maintain a physical location in the Perdido area open to the public.

  2. Carry a consistent and significant selection of Made in Perdido products as part of their regular inventory (not just seasonally or occasionally).

  3. Prominently display “Made in Perdido” signage to help shoppers identify local goods in-store.

  4. Agree not to misrepresent the origin of products as “Made in Perdido” if they do not meet Producer criteria.

  5. Understand that membership does not require you to carry products from a specific Producer — product selection is always based on mutual fit.

Product Placement

Membership in Made in Perdido is about identifying and promoting authentic local products for both shoppers and merchants — not about forcing product placement.

  • Producers are not guaranteed retail placement.

  • Merchants are not required to carry any specific Producer’s products.

  • If a product is a good fit for the online shop, we will work with the Producer to help get quality products listed.

Ground Rules for All

  • Use the Made in Perdido name and logo only in accordance with program guidelines.

  • Maintain product quality and accurate representation.

  • Respond promptly to inquiries from customers or program administrators.

  • Treat fellow members, customers, and community partners with respect.

  • Membership may be revoked for misuse of the brand, misrepresentation of products, or conduct detrimental to the program’s reputation.

Why This Matters

When shoppers see the Made in Perdido tag, they can trust they’re getting a genuine local product — created, grown, or enhanced right here. That trust benefits every member and strengthens our community economy.
